Beginners' Circle in American Falconry magazine
1996 thru 2003.
In 1993 I wrote the book The Falconer's Apprentice. It filled a niche in American falconry. The book focused on just two things: the red-tailed hawk and the apprentice falconer. It helped many apprentices learn more quickly how to handle, care for, train, and hunt with their first hawk. More importantly, it presented the ethical philosophy adhered to by many falconers and falconry organizations today.
When American Falconry magazine came along, I suggested to the editors that I write a column for the apprentice falconer. I submitted a few articles to show them that there was still more to say about red-tailed hawks - and about becoming a falconer. They agreed and named it Beginners' Circle.
29 articles, Paper, 5.25" x 8", 170 pages. First Edition. ISBN 1-885054-50-5
